September Drive thru Food Pantry - The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center will host a drive-thru food pantry for eligible Veterans on September 19, 2020, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the West Entrance. The Freedom Foods Food Pantry is open to Veterans enrolled in health care at the VA Medical Center in Jackson who meet the Mississippi SNAP guidelines. (09/18/2020)

Jackson VA Medical Center to Hold Drive-thru Homeless Veterans Resource Giveaway - The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center’s will hold a drive-thru resource giveaway for homeless Veterans on Saturday, September 12, 2020, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. in front of the Medical Center, located at 1500 E. September is Suicide Prevention Month - September is Suicide Prevention Month and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) wants to remind Veterans and their loved ones through the Be There campaign that small actions can make a big difference to Veterans experiencing difficult times. Jackson VA Medical Center surpasses 1,724 video visits in 2020 - The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) recently announced that video telehealth appointments to Veterans’ homes increased over 1000%, as Veterans increasingly chose virtual care through VA Video Connect during the Covid-19 pandemic. In Jackson, Mississippi, the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center conducted 1,571 telehealth appointments in May 2020. (08/28/2020)

Try Out the Robotic Surgery Machine at the VA Medical Center in Jackson - On December 12, 2018, Dr. Rajesh Kuruba performed the first robot-assisted surgeries at the VA Medical Center in Jackson using the da Vinci Xi, one of only two in the state of Mississippi. The other da Vinci Xi is located at Keesler Air Force Base. On Tuesday you can stop by the Medical Center Atrium to see how the robotic daVinci XI Surgical System works, and even try it out. VA is committed to empowering and equipping Veterans with the care and resources they need. Nationwide, approximately 14 of the 20 Veterans who die by suicide each day are not receiving care from the Veterans Health Administration. First Robot-Assisted Surgery Performed at the Jackson VA Medical Center - The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, is pleased to announce the recent acquisition of the da Vinci Xi Surgical System. The da Vinci Xi System was designed with the goal of further advancing the technology used in minimally invasive surgery. The System can be used across a spectrum of minimally invasive surgical procedures and has been optimized for multi-quadrant surgeries in the areas of gynecology, urology, thoracic, cardiac and general surgery.
