MISSISSIPPI HEROES HONORING HEROES

 

The Mississippi Army National Guard will participate in “Heroes Honoring Heroes” on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, from 7-8 a.m. at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson to honor medical personnel and celebrate their efforts while fighting on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic on the final day of National Nurses Week. National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6 and ends on May 12, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. May 12 will also be the 14th anniversary to commemorate the passing of our beloved G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery from Meridian, Mississippi. He was an Army General Officer, a Mississippi State Senator, a business owner, a U.S. Congressman, and a champion for Veterans’ issues that many are grateful to be the recipients of, such as the Montgomery G.I. Bill, providing education benefits to military Veterans.

The event will take place at the R&E entrance, located at the back of the Medical Center. Media are invited to cover this event.
