Volunteer Summer Youth Program
Welcome to the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center Volunteer Summer Youth Program page. We're glad you're here. vv Volunteers play a very important role in taking care of Veterans at medical centers across the country. In 2011, volunteers donated over 10 million hours and $90 million in support of our mission "to care for him (her), who shall have borne the battle." That quote comes from Abraham Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address on March 4, 1865 and was adopted as the Department of Veterans Affairs motto in 1959. Every summer at the Jackson VA, we are proud to host a Volunteer Summer Youth Program for students 14-18. This year the program will run from June 4-June 22. Volunteer opportunites exist in Surgical Service, Nursing Service, Medical Administration and others. To learn more about the Volunteer Summer Youth Program, please call (601) 364-1391.
