The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center has taken another step toward opening a Community Based Outpatient Clinic in McComb and providing quality health care closer to home for Veterans in the region.

VA awarded a contract to CR Associates to partner with the Jackson VA Medical Center in providing services to the men and women who have served our nation in the military. The clinic is expected to open before the end of the year.

"We're excited about bringing a clinic to McComb," said Linda F. Watson, Center Director. "Veterans in the area will now be able to receive quality medical care and service closer to home.

The Jackson VA Medical Center is committed to Veterans receiving high quality health care."

Indeed, for the last four years, the Jackson VA Medical Center has ranked among the top 10 percent of all VA facilities. Recently, based on an external review, the Jackson VA's performance in clinical quality was ranked second compared to all VA Medical Centers nationally. It ranked first compared to VA facilities similar in size and complexity.

"I'm just really happy that the contract has been awarded, and now people don't have to drive as far to get VA medical care. They'll be able to get it right there in McComb," said Tom Gunther, past commander of American Legion Post No. 14.

The clinic will provide primary care (general medical and preventative services) for about 8,000 Veterans in the area that includes the counties of Pike, Lincoln, Amite, and Walthall. Veterans from other counties may also enroll for care at the clinic.

The McComb clinic will join existing VA clinics in Meridian, Hattiesburg, Greenville, Natchez, Kosciusko and Columbus in making VA care more accessible to all Veterans in the state.
