On December 15, the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center opened its Community Based Outpatient Clinic in McComb and began providing quality health care closer to home for Veterans in the region.
The clinic, operated through a partnership with CR Associates, is located at 1308 Harrison Avenue in McComb. The clinic’s telephone number is 601-250-0965. Hours of the clinic are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays.
“We’re excited about opening our new clinic in McComb,” said Linda F. Watson, Director of the Jackson VA Medical Center. “We are committed to providing quality accessible care to Veterans. This new clinic will enable Veterans to receive primary and preventative care close to home. Our medical center has a great reputation for providing outstanding care to Veterans. We’re pleased to provide that service closer to home for many Veterans in the area.”
Indeed, for the last four years, the Jackson VA Medical Center has ranked among the top 10 percent of all VA facilities. Recently, based on an external review, the Jackson VA’s performance in clinical quality was ranked first compared to VA facilities similar in size and complexity.
Former American Legion Post 14 Commander Tom Gunther said the clinic will benefit Veterans in the area. “I think it’s just great that the veterans are going to be able to use that,” he said. “I think it’s a real nice set-up.”
The Jackson VA Medical Center has a long-standing partnership with CR Associates, a contractor that specializes in the delivery of Veterans’ health care. CR Associates provides care at five of the Jackson VA’s other clinics. In addition to McComb, the Jackson VA has Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Hattiesburg, Meridian, Kosciusko, Greenville, Natchez, and Columbus.
Veterans currently seen at the VA medical center in Jackson may transfer their care to the McComb clinic. Veterans not currently using the VA medical system may enroll for health care by contacting and Enrollment Coordinator at 1-800-949-1009, extension 3857 or 1511.
